the set is still VASTLY superior to the Steel Plate. the only way they could make it inferior would be to paint it pink.

I can get 54 pool points with 3 items. 50 are used, making it into 65 defenses and -25 resistances(in addition to armor 110/130/80 and shield's +10/-10) If I reequip the shield, I make up 18 poins at the cost of +15 resistances, which will go to making +10 defense and -5 resistance.Doing so it once more will get me 85 defenses and -5 resistance, with clicking 95 defenses, and that's still without misc item.I'm not sure does the armor cap at 100 or set cap at 100, didn't read too closely, but assume armor.
the total pool for 80->50 and defense =100 resistances necessary would be 95, for 130 of resistances 145. At level 130 you get 23 points for every item you're using. With all 4 item of set( I don't think that guest is counted), you get 92 points.Close enough, taken that armor still has 260/260/200 attack power(sadly, this was nerfed too - before it was 250/250/250),getting up to 115 in defense(again, assuming that 100 cap appiles for armor) and 35 in resistance(-10 from shield, -10 from misc item.).
Oh, and did I mention you can still use spells, for warriors 10th day, for mages are there uberspells.
With 3 items, it will be less favorable pool of 69, altough with this you can still max or almost max your defenses by reequiping shild. However, you can't get best resistance.
Another issue is that with 200 DEX, LUK and 115 defense, it becomes 145 adjusted defense, which means atleast 46% BTH is needed to even score a hit at you.And there are still 250 stat points left, which can be put easly into annihilator mage, or if you don't favor it, you can use ranged weapons(the set weapon can be turned to ranged, too, so that's quite an non-issue for resistances).
However, that should wait until the sweep is over, as mages will be nerfed or warriors buffed, monsters BTH will be adjusted(altough the plan is to elminate 0 DEX builds, making higher defenses and less BTH on attacks, it may be changed). In addition, many monsters have high BTH; like Drakath, I assume, Nerfkitten, and Carnax too has some "umph" with it's 600 stat bonuses worth of BTH,despite being non- issue, also has some innate BTH making it up to 111 BTH.Syphon is also unblockable, I think, and so on.......
However, even when the monster has 95% BTH, you still block half of the hits.Taken that with full set, you get -25 +/- 10 resistances + armor innate resistances, best case scenario would be that monster cannot hit you and even then the worst that you will recive, assuming armor's worst defense is 130, is 115, and best case, which according to my memory is atleast 3/8 of the time, is 45(assuming using misc item that doesn't boost resistances.), if you use the staff.Things that boost DEX or LUK, like Head of the Raydius Dragon even further increase the cap.
However, some BTH should be nerfed on opponent, still, because Lightbringers still have innate 50% BTH, +(my assumation) 12.5% from 200 INT, and probaly some DEX/LUK.
Hmm, I'm sure I forget something, but I'm not sure what.Expect that at lower levels you can't archive best defenses accompianied by -25 resistances. However, by assuming 5% will always go into resistances, the necessary pool will be 70.With 4 items, it will be at level 80(pool of 72), with 3 items 140( at level 130 you get 69 points).I'm not sure that it's possible to get rid of that 5%, but it may be possible, though.Haven't performed my calculations yet.
Oh, and for those who don't know, your pool with this armor = [10+ your level/10(rounded down)] multipled by the number of the items of the set you have equipped(pet, weapon, armor, shield). So level 89 gets 18 points per item, LV 90 gets 19 points per item. Sadly, apparantly the guest doesn't get counted.

Do you have problems?
Try looking up the Database on protector set for once.
