Alright, I've seen enough questions about how to work the Proboard's coding stuff (even though there aren't too many threads floating around nowadays :S). So, here I go.
Q: Why won't my images display?
A: This is one of the more common ones I've seen. To do an image tag, first type [ img ] for the opening tag then the url for the picture and then [ /img ] for the ending tag. Do not add spaces inbetween the "[]" when actually doing the code. This is just to make it so that it won't disappear in this post. If you're too lazy to type the tags, click this picture up at the add tags this above the text box where you type the post body and it will at "[ img ][ /img ]" wherever your cursor is at. Without the spaces in it, of course.
Q: Why won't my image tag work? I have the correct tag id, but it won't do anything. This is what it looks like: <img>(url for image)</img>
A: Alright, this question, first of all, can be applied to all the other tags that this board uses. Anyways, the tag isn't working because the board doesn't recognize the code unless if it uses these right here -->"[]" to enclose the tags. If you use anything other than this, it won't convert into an image/link/whatever.
Q: Why won't my tags work? I'm an HTML expert! It doesn't look like anything's wrong with my tags...
A: This board does not recognize any other coding besides it's own, which is BBcode. Try anything else, too bad. This also means that not as much can be done as with other types of coding, but that's that. Don't worry, you've got someone else greiving about not being able to put his/hers expert coding skills to work, me.
Q: How do you work the hyperlink code?
A: This was tricky for me at first, but making hyperlinks make your posts much more cleaner than just putting in a url. *Applaudes because he doesn't see many people using the hyperlink code too often besides himself* Anyways, here's how ya do it. Click the url button to bring in the tags, which are [ url ] and [ /url ] (without the spaces of course). Here's where I had to guess one day. In the opening tag, place an equals sign right after "url" and then the url right after it. Now, all you have to do is put some text in between the tags and voila, the text that was in between the tags now links to the url! Here's an example using the UAQ site: [ url=http://www.ultimateaq.com/ ]Ultimate AQ[ /url ]. (Once again, without the spaces. >>
Q: How do you make words into a marquee?
A: This is pretty simple. Here's what'cha do. First of all, the tags for it are [ move ] and [ /move ]. Don't forget the no spaces thing. If you're lazy, clicking in the add tags section above the smilies will add the tags at wherever your cursor is at. After putting the tags in, insert the text that you want to move across your post in between the tags, and voila! You can combine and overlap this coding with other coding like hyperlink, glow, and even images.
Q: How does glow work?
A: I don't use it, so I woudln't be the one to ask, but here's a link to a thread about how to work with it by our resident magic-using modderator, Warlic.
If I ever see another question floating around, I'll add it in. If you also have a question, post it here and I'll answer it AND add it to the guide.
