Let us say, that you, and several other people, five in total, were gathered together to gamble. Every one of you in the same situation, men and women, no money, debts up to your necks and an imminent eviction to happen.

The people organizing the event tell the rules shortly after pointing YOU as the player for the event.

You will be the one who playes the game against an opponent from the organizers ranks, who he is or what game you are playing does not matter, what matters are the rules.

You get the option of choosing from two things you gamble with.
A) You gamble with your own life.
B) You gamble with the lives of the other people, as well as your own.

The game will have nine rounds.

If you decide to gamble with your own life, you are the only one who will gain money from the event. The other people will be taken away from the scene and go on with their lives.

If you gamble with the lives of the other people, for each win you have, the won amount is multiplied by the number of people still alive. You may not choose the same person twice in a row, except yourself.

It is a chance to win big, but if you lose, someone will be instantly killed. If you are killed in option B game, the event ends, and the money is split between the survivors, .

After the fifth round, you can choose to quit the gamble whenever you want and take the money you have won, which will be shared between the survivors if you went with B), otherwise you keep it all.

What would YOU choose in such a situation?
A, or B?

Obviously many will go with B, after all, with A you have 5 chances to end up dead yourself.
But I wonder how many go with B due to the other side of it?

With other peoples lives being betted, you stay safe while fighting to get some money. In the worst case, you would only have to play with your life once, but four losses in a row is unlikely, unless it is a game of pure chance.

However, if it is a game that you know about, by coincidence or the organizers selecting the game on purpose, there is a path that people may not think about at first.

You can raise large amounts of money if you just keep on playing to the end, and most importantly, if you would happen to be the only one alive, you would get it all.

In the ideal situation, you would win every game up to the fifth round. After that, if the game is something you know how it is played, it is a simple task to lose four times in a row, and you end up alone with all the multiplied wins.

In short: With B, the "wise" would take the path where the number of people receiving money would be as close to one as possible. The only thing you have to let go of, is whatever humanity you may still have, but when it is about money that you could never make in your life no matter how much you worked, and people you know nothing about, money would most likely be the more important matter than their lives.

It would be for me at least.

I would put someone who I care about on the line. Atleast, when I die, they get the money. If I just die, they inherit the debt.

Unless you're referring to non-family members. Then yeah, rather not if they don't wish so.
