First off, I want to explain bit why these have been implemented. Of course, if you have been on these forums a while, we have, for the most part, managed to keep bad posts down. There was a little turmoil when two people in particular started spamming like crazy to increase their post counts. That was resolved, and we thought that all was well. Now, however, I have noticed more and more of the 50 smiles in one thread. As you will later see, this is one of the things, not cool to do.
Because AQ came up with an ingenious way to track people who have behaved badly, we will be copying them. Yes, we will be using the 1-10 numbers next to one's "title". That way we will be able to track more definitively who has behaved inappropriately. I'll tell you the scale in a bit.
For now, the rules.
1. NO double posting. Double posting is spammish, annoying, and basically demonstrates that that person is too lazy to verify if they didn't post twice. Or it just means they're too lazy to modify their old post. What you SHOULD do, is in fact, modify your old post, if you have something to add, so that you do not double post.
Remember, double posting includes asking the same question in 2 boards. I know that I for one read every post on these boards. I will know if you ask the same question twice.
Also, please, please PLEASE use the search button. Especially on Help Hotline. I do not want to see the same question twice. This is also a sort of lazyness, and it annoys everyone.
2. NO smile spam. Don't know what smile spam is? Let me give you an example.
Smile spam will not be tolerated. You can and will be warned about it. Anyhow, WHY would you need so many smiles? 1 is sufficient to get your point across.
3. NO insta-chat stuff. What is insta-chat? Say 2 people are on at the same time. One posts one thing, then another posts the response 2 seconds later. Soon enough, there is an IM-type conversation going on in the forums. Use mIRC to chat like this. It is just plain annoying to read 1 word questions and responses, going on for 5 pages, all done in the span of 10 minutes.
4. Don`t answer questions already answered! That is to say, if there was an question and it was already answered, don`t post anything unless you have something new to say!
5. No flaming, no namecalling, no being a general jerk. No insulting, and NO swearing (or evading the filter) Nobody likes people who act like this. It makes the forums unpleasant.
6. No arguing to a Moderator or Administrator about a disciplinary action. The decision may not be final, if you are issued a warning by a staff member. If you wish to protest, or don't agree with what the staff member has punished you for (or done whatever) PM the staff member about your problem, always being polite. You have a greater chance of your case being reviewed if you are polite. If you are rude, your protest will probably just be thrown away (well... no, not really it won't. It will just make us think you're a jerk.)
I would suggest you also send a copy to another staff member. That would be Webwolf or I, DarkForest. We don't want Anar to be overloaded with forum stuff, but he will still be made aware.
7. No posts with less than 3 words. This is to keep the useless posts out, as in "lol", "ok" etc... it sortof goes with the no insta-chat part. This rule will not be enforced to heavily either, but of course, too many will get you a warning.
8. NO MORE backseat modding This is basically saying "This is Spam." EDIT: OR saying "This is a double post" , etc... A mod will do this for you. The very act of asking, or saying the post is spam is spammish. There will be no more of such behavior.
9. I Get Very Annoyed When People Capitolize The First Letter Of Every Word. It Is Almost As Bad As When One Does Not Capitolize Any Words.
10. DO NOT ONLY TALK IN CAPS LIKE THIS!!! Just don't do it.
11. Do NOT advertise on these boards without permission from DarkForest Failure to do so may result in a ban.
12. Do not quote Images Just post their links, and get rid of the
13. NO ASKING FOR GUARDIANSHIPS! I'll personally kill you if you do.
14. NO POSTING SPOILERS
Spoilers are stated by the staff as they are released
Though the rule of thumb will be 7 days for anything where a certain path is involved.
Also 24 hours for major plot spoilers for hidden bosses or totally unexpected events.
15. NO reviving old threads without adding serious conversation Warning levels will be given out for doing so at the moderator`s discretion. A old thread is concidered a thread 3 days old.
16. Don`t go off topic Simple enough rule, right?
17. Signatures must be smaller than an equivilant of 100 pixels in height. If its only text, it can only be 6 lines. If its a mix of a small picture and text, keep in mind that each line is approximately 17 pixels, and you still can`t exceed the 100 pixel limit. They also cannot excede 500 pixels in length, and please keep them under 100kb.
18. NO Swearing (including self-censored) in Titles. How would you like it if the General board was spammed with stars and symbols? I wouldn't. This also includes flaming. I will assume that you are flaming at something if you start swearing all over the forum, and a warning or ban will be given out for that kind of behavior.
19. No posting of game .swfs (released OR unreleased items). Posting screenshots of released items is okay.
20. Any posts in any language other than English, require a full translation.
21. Absolutely NO impersonation. This includes AQ Staff, UAQ Staff and even normal members.
22. No accusations of cheating All it is is spam and flaming, leave that for us to decide.
Here are the warning levels. An FYI: Repetition of minor offenses will lead to a higher warning level!
1-3: Swearing (evading the filter), smile spamming, *milder* namecalling, double posting, 1 word post. Generally nothing to serious.
4-6: Flaming, large amounts of flooding, severer namecalling, etc.... If you have a special title, it will be removed. . Of course, ppl I give special titles will probably not do these things...
7-9: Trolling, Incessant arguing about a disciplinary issue after repeatedly being told not to. Continues spamming, flaming, flooding posting pictures of mature content
10: You have already been banned.
Giving out warning levels is done strictly based upon the Moderator's feeling on the severity of your actions. You may get a warning, but if your actions are severe enough, you may just get a ban.
