If the Melee weapons overpower Mage weapons for a mage, what happens? (and yeah, this is rtheorical question)

Then everyone wonders how powerful they must be. Unless the damage is somewhere in the hundreds WITHOUT stat bonuses, it's basically impossible. I like answering rhetorical questions.
Note: if what Iceberg said is correct...
I TOLDZ YOU SO!
edit: you think you've got problems? I can't even GET to Gravis! I just got killed by a Wyvern because it could do 300+ damage per hit!

I don't mean weapons with spell damage level B/R. But SOMETHING needs to be done, because the staff builds monsters for MAGES to kill, since they're the damage output players, and everybody else can go straight to Hell.
Case in point: Gravis. Cheapest most annoying boss fight ever. Why? He has Melee defenses over 70, but magic defenses under 30. He has a damage reduction of 25 on all damage caused: 25 damage is nothing to a mage throwing around uberspells, but it effectively shuts down other builds. My guest and pet were doing no damage at ALL until my Nerfkitten started the Nerf Chain. Without Nerfkitten nerfing the bastard into oblivion, there was NO WAY I could have finished that fight. Oh, and the HP was stupidly, stupidly high for something that has a damage reduction like that.
The hell were they THINKING?!

I doubt I'm even going to GET to Gravis, and I got no Ice spell anyway.

LoC, Draco: this is what I use aganist Wyvers:
Riiptide, Empower,Focus,beastmaster quests, nerfkitten
Note that Wyvern wastes a turn jumping up in the air to charge wind attack. If you get hit by it, use Eye of Naab, but focused Riiptide should bring it down. If you're desperate, use Dragonslayer armor skill which has 100%+ BTH to hit.
This is what I use aganist Sand Dragon: First MP Drainer, then energy to finish off. I've shaved off over 3/4 from it's HP with LMS because not getting the special off second time. Used Golden Plate and blowout shield here, pets same
Aganist normal Dragons Well, if I have resources, then IT, Zerker, low HP, RoC, and a bow.
Aganist Gravis: Gravis has 3 effects: 1. When you hit him, he may increase his defenses according to attack type. This costs MP. 2. When you hit him, he may reduce the damage dealt by hit by 25. Those effect apply when attacking with water or ice. 3. When attacking, he puts you on fire.
Just first use weapon unaccording to your build(Lycan Slasher?) or damage converter, then slash away with your own build. I personally happened to use all three type of attack randomly on it due BM quests, nerfkitten and myself.Never got a MP Drain off.
As for damage of mages, let's take a look at the ice spell - the strongest spell is Ice nine. 9 hits means for either 9 times of def increase or 225 points of damage reducion.Ice nine normally does 234 aganist 45 modifiers, this has highers, around 60. Let's assume it does, oh, 231 then. 231*1,5-225=121,5. That is about equal to warrior's normal damage aganist 100% resistance. Additional 50% resistance surely outclasses it, and for defenses, either above mentioned stargery or just attack with different element.
The pet is energy element, and LV85 needs 235 CHA for 100% attack rate. It has a chance of 5+CHA/40 to perform an attack with either paralyze or poisoning(unknown effect) for unknown timespan, when attacking.

I intend to raise my Cha once I raise my Str/Dex to where I can do proper damage for my level.
I have 175 End. You know how I beat the Wyverns? Reign Plate, Ironthorn, Blade of Awe, Nerfkitten, Krenos. You know how I beat the sand dragons? Reign Plate, Ironthorn, Razorscale, Nerfkitten, Krenos. You know how I beat Gravis? Reign Plate, Nightmare Shield, Tsunami Blade, Nerfkitten, the Sign that raises Dex and ranged defense, and some potions.
Go go gadget Tank build.

If you bring it melee defense up, doesn't it prove a problem.
But yeah, Tank builds can kill above normal.

It's a problem for me regardless. It's not so much the damage I deal as the damage I recieve. actually, the wyverns don't spend a turn charging - they bite me, then the next turn they blast me. having 70 defense on melee and magic and 60 defense on ranged, I have a little trouble hitting them, too - Otherwise I'd have Cupid do his thing and hold them still for me.

xelemental: Tank builds can kill things offensive builds can't, but offensive builds can also beat things tank builds can't.
Unfortunately, the staff favors the kind of huge HP, huge Defense mobs lately that favor spellcasters.
Oh, and LoC: The immovable object shunts the unstoppable force to travel in a new direction, a.k.a. 'The Unstoppable Ricochet' answer.
