Chapter 9: Besieged!
That night, Dis Manibus lay mentally wounded in his chambers at Etheris Castle. He was not in a position to make decisions, but the Lord of Order was. Even from another dimension, the corrupt Elemental was amazed at Zero's and Infinity's arcane prowess, and hungrily wanted their spells, particularly the one called Atrum Meteor, for himself. So, being Dis Manibus on another dimension, he influenced Dis Manibus to assault and capture Seraphia, and interrogate the Seraphim Twins for their powerful magical abilities.
Dis Manibus' newly assembled siege army contained over a million Dimension Wyverns, five legions (25, 000) of mounted Hoplites, nine hordes of Bombers (81, 000) and ten ranks (100, 000) of mounted Longbowmen and Snipers, and fifteen thousand artillery units, piloted by a single Hordesman. And as the massed force flew, marched, rode, or drove toward the land of Seraphia, the great shadow of impending doom approached...
In a watchtower of Seraphia Temple, the shrill voice of a worried watchman pierced through the late night.
"Lord Zero! There seems to be a huge force of Etherionians toward the west! They're headed this way, but according to the aerial spies, they haven't destroyed any cities or villages. It seems that they're preparing to siege us..."
Zero sounded worried. "Scramble the Pyromancers First Class and the Psychomancers First Class. Then, assemble ten legions of (50, 000) Legionaries and one hundred legions (500, 000) of the most elite Mages and Knights, and then all we can do is hope for the best..."
So the Legionaries were placed at the entry landing, the Pyromancers and Psychomancers sent forward, and the elites scattered around on floating platforms around the Temple.
In half an hour, the first forces, the artillery, attacked. The heavy-grade missiles smashed upon the main gate, and though nothing was damaged, everyone felt shaken. The Pyromancers used a union attack, Aestuo Meteor. Half the Artillery were wiped out by that single attack. The assault went pretty well, but the tables were turned when an Etherionan general sent the lead artillery unit to smash the barricaded frontier. Two mages were killed in that assault.
The Hoplites and Bombers rushed toward the now smashed front gate. Luckily, the Legionaries countered in time, and the Psychomancers cast the Psychic attack, Mens Oppugno. The resulting deaths were many- of the 25, 000 Hoplites that attacked, only a dozen survived. The artillery was all destroyed, and the dozen Hoplites retreated back into the safety of the Etherionian shadows. It was the Bombers' turn- their medium-grade missiles could be as deadly as an artillery unit's blast. So the Legionaries charged toward the inoming force, and the Pyromancers cast Aestuo Meteor again. The Bombers were nearly wiped out, until the Etheronian general summoned the Dimension Wyverns and the Legionaries were forced to retreat.
Zero himself rushed into battle after the Dimension Wyverns were called- he thought no more Seraphians should suffer. So he disappeared for ten seconds- and blazing black meteors drowned the Etherionians in black and gold flames.
Chapter 10: Winds of Fate
Zero found himself once more in the white room. Celestius was there, waiting in his golden armour, and he adressed Zero with a slight chuckle.
"The time draws near, Zero. The boy, Jon, is in the other room. I think you will also find something important in there as well...
"So really...It was not many moons after all? Just one or two?"
"Perhaps. I cannot tell you that much as of yet. But rest assured, all things lead to a higher purpose.
"Yes, my lord. I know."
And in another bright flash of light, Zero was transported into the other room. Like last time, the floor was gone. How ironic, thought Zero.
The boy was facing Zero this time. He was wearing obsidian armour, and a deep purple sword was strapped on his belt.
"Greetings, Jon, Lord of Chaos."
Jon replied, "How did you know my name...Zero?"
Zero said, "I...have my sources. I am here to tell you that the time draws near... and we are about to meet in only a few months."
"But I thought you said many moons?"
"My source tells me otherwise...I am corrected."
And then a slight golden pulse shone above them, causing Jon to look up.
"Look up there, Zero! It seems to be some sort of chest..."
"And so it is," said Zero as he looked up himself. He levitated it down towards them, and opened the box...
The chest was much bigger than it was on the inside than it was on the outside. Jon gasped in surprise, "That's impossible!"
For it seemingly was. The chest was like a miniature room, with shining gold, black, and silver objects. Zero flew into the chest, and Jon followed.
There were black-and-gold handled and silver-bladed swords, golden spears with black shafts, silver chain whips with black ends, and tons of magical spell tomes in white, black, and all elemental colours. Strangely, there were six of each item. Zero picked up a tome, and flipped the pages.
"Amazing! These are all first-class spells, yet I've never heard of them. These are Celestius' tomes indeed." Zero murmured.
"Sorry, whose tome?" Jon asked, puzzled.
"It will be revealed to you later." Replied Zero, in a perhaps confusing way.
A voice rang in Zero's head as he walked toward the weapons. The voice said, "These weapons will react to your most primarily used element."
Zero swung a sword. It was true- a black flame ripped through the air as it went. Zero's most frequently used spell was the Atrum Meteor, a combination of darkness and fire.
Jon asked, "What are these weapons?"
Zero said, "They will react to your element, which is, for you, Chaos. Your element will be the one you want to use- Chaos is disorganized in that way."
Zero grabbed three of each weapon and tome, and said to Jon, "The other three are for you and your allies. How many do you have as of now?"
"I have one, who is Sam, the Water Lord. Elbern said that Earth and Fire allied with Order, so Water and Wind are on our side. Fire didn't seem too friendly... Wind might come later."
"Take three of each weapon. Wind may need them."
And when both of them took their weapons, they both shone and disappeared.
Chapter 11: Release
Zero woke up to a grey sky. The clouds were hanging low in the sky, and it seemed like an extremely gloomy day... until Zero noticed the shining items on his bedside table where he kept his tomes.
Impossible! Not even the highest form of magic could make dreamt objects real... thought Zero.
For there were the tomes, the swords, the spears, and the chain whips he brought back from the dream. So it's true... What I dreamt was real. thought Zero.
His armour materialized on him once he stepped out of the obsidian four-poster, golden lining shining impossibly. He grabbed the weapons and tomes and went to the Chronicles Chamber, and saw Infinity and Kelveros waiting there for him. They also saw the weapons, but didn't look surprised. Zero said,
"I presume you had the same dream? Did Celestius come to you as well?"
Infinity replied, "Yes. This time, though, I saw him fighting a demonic creature with a black katana. There was also a human boy looking at them too, but he disappeared."
Zero said, "The boy, Jon, is the Lord of Chaos. Celestius has chosen him... and he has also given us these weapons..."
Kelveros stared in awe at the massed pile that Zero now placed on the table. Zero picked a sword out of the pile, and its silver blade and black and gold hilt instantly reformed itself into a black and red halved broadsword with a black handle and a emanating blue hilt. In the jagged and halved middle section, a red pulse shone from the centre.
Infinity also picked up a sword. It turned into a golden rapier with an impossibly white blade. Sparks crackled upon its needle-sharp edge, and there were runic markings upon it.
Kelveros picked up a chain whip. It turned into a silver gun, with a triple barrel and a rectangular body. There was a blue, red, and gold glow from the three barrels, and a laser-guided sniper scope. There was a panel on the side, and five buttons on the panel.
Zero murmured, "Are these made of magic even we cannot grasp? It's impossible! Unless these were made of Extractium..."
Infinity said, "Celestius' armour, the Holy Defender, is made of Extractium. Why can this not be?"
Kelveros was looking puzzled by then and wanted to shoot something with his new gun.
They took one of each weapon. Zero ended up with the dark sword he first obtained, a lance with two points and a blood-red shaft, and a black chain with a blade-sized red point. The tomes, of course, didn't change shape. However, the words and the cover DID change. They now said:
"S-Campester Lux lucis, S-Campester Obscurum, S-Campester Incendia/Aqua/Ventus/Terra/Thunder/Glacies"
Infinity gaped at the new covers. "This is impossible! The S-class spells, used by Celestius himself! It's an honour that he would bestow us with these powers..." he marvelled.
Kelveros asked, "I've been hearing about this Celestius a lot lately. Who is he really? And what's this Extractium?"
Zero answered, "Celestius is mine and Infinity's greater whole. We can't exist in the same dimension, but yet I've seen him in my dreams. He resembles a Seraphim, but with twelve wings and magical armour that apparently has no real colour, thought it appears to be either pure white, midnight black, or celestial gold. Extractium is what his armour and these weapons are made of. It's a metal that comes in two varieties: pure and dark. Pure extractium can be used for all magics, and it has powerful heaing properties. Dark extractium is highly toxic, and is used to make Golems and poison weapons. Extractium is overall pretty rare, and the correct mixture of pure and dark extractium can create life."
Infinity said, "Should we tell him about- your creation, if you will?"
"Don't bring that up now. It was a mistake, but presently it's sealed away," Zero replied.
Suddenly there was a small explosion on the side of the building. Kelveros rushed to the window and saw a red-armoured warrior throwing meteors. A brown-robed human stood beside the red one, holding a staff of unknown purpose. Stalactites were smashing into the fortress walls, almost shattering the mighty structure. Zero was utterly amazed that no one else was trying to attack them, or even see them, for that matter, as all the other Seraphians went about their daily routines.
Zero and Kelveros dashed out of the already smashed window, and Zero cast Gale Shroud. The villains were temporarily blinded by the impact of the huge shadowy cloud, and that gave Kelveros a chance to shoot them. Two spheres burst out of the silver gun, both blue. The two strange characters were frozen in place, and Zero mentally carried them to the Emerald Forest. Suddenly, something struck him in the head, almost like lightning.
:Zero, this is Jon. Earth and Fire are entering Corios, with the aim of capturing your technology and magic. Earth is actually not following Order, so try and capture him. Fire is still your enemy. Don't tell anyone... even Infinity... Our lives may depend on it.
Earth? That must be the green-robed one... thought Zero.
As they landed in a clearing in the forest, Zero melted their icy prisons and tied them seperately to two golden pillars that he created. The scaly-armoured one woke up and struggled to get free. Zero saw this as an excellent cover to talk to Earth and not him, since the pillars were about ten meters apart. A cube with odd designs fell out of Fire's armour, and Zero mentally lifted it to himself.
"What is this? It's unlike anything I've seen before..."
A mental voice struck Zero once more.
Call forth the Robo using this: "Mistral Shadow, Arise!"
Zero called, "Mistral Shadow, Arise!"
Immediately, the cube folded in upon itself. A two-meter tall mechanical being emerged where the small cube used to be, bearing a headpiece similar to Zero's own, and with a spike in the center. Its chestpiece was curved and ebony black, and its shoulders were streamlined and powerful. On its right arm it had a bow-shaped weapon with a flamethrower barrel. Its right arm mounted a wide-barreled cannon. Its back had a set of what appeared to be black wings on it.
"What is this?!" Zero exclaimed.
Make eye contact with the robo, and you will be its master.
Zero looked the robo (as it was called by the voice) in the eyes. Or where he thought it was, because there was a visor where it should be. Yellow glints appeared in the visor, and there was a droning voice.
"UNIT MSTRL-SHD00001 OPERATIONAL. COMMANDER: ATTICUS GENESIS THANATOS ZERO."
Chapter 12: Arcane
Fire stirred. His scaly armour burned off the silver ropes that bound him. He uttered a grunt, in a language that wasn't familiar to Zero's own. Zero presumed it was a curse.
A fireball came swooshing behind Zero. Another Fire stood behind him, trying to untie Earth. Out of sheer instinct, Zero called,
"SOUL-BOOST! INITIATE!"
Immediately, the Robo glowed gold and rushed at Fire. It took out a golden katana, and slashed Fire through the chest. Fire cursed again, in Jon's language, so that Zero understood. The Robo held up its bow mechanism, and took three shots at the second Fire. Three flourescent blue shots emerged with a loud CRACK from the gun, hitting Fire in the shoulder.
"Giving up yet?" said Zero, using his gift of universal tongues.
"In your dreams, sissy wimp," sneered Fire. An axe of magma emerged from Fire's burning hand, steaming with black smoke. Fire charged at Zero with his axe in his right hand. Zero flicked the axe out of his hand, and took out his sword, Jormungandhr. He slashed Fire in half in less than a second.
Suddenly, another Fire dashed at him. This must be illusionary magic, thought Zero. Well, two can play at that game.
Zero created five of himself, each with Jormungandhr's power. They all wielded the power of Zero split into fifths.
HOLY PENTACLE!
All five Zeros divided into a star formation. The world went black for a few seconds, and after that, the five Zero clones turned into one again and Fire just lay on the ground, blood coming out of five gashes on his body.
He isn't dead. That's good, as I may be able to force more information from him later, thought Zero.
Zero then strode up to Earth, who was stirring now. Zero unbound his ropes, and Earth saw Fire on the bloodstained ground.
"He isn't dead, is he?" asked Earth.
"No, merely fainted. I think it'll be a while till he wakes up, though," replied Zero.
"Order would kill me if he was. Not that I care, anyway."
"That doesn't matter. So really, whose side are you on?"
"Yours. Order's a cocky piece of (radio edit) and I've never been really evil."
Can I trust him...? No, Jon told me I could.
"So...What's your name, young human?"
"Ieuan. Ieuan Rose."
"I see. Do you wish to return to Allandria now or later?"
"Now. I need to go back to prevent Order from killing them all."
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After what seemed to Ieuan to be an elaborate process on making Temporal-Spacial portals, they finally got one working in the Laboratory Inferior (where the Biometals, the Gigaserver, and the Corios Files were kept). Ieuan, carrying a heavily-wounded Fire on his shoulder, was transported back to Allandria. Zero, tired from the strain of the day, flew back to his room and found Kelveros right outside the door.
"Where did you go after we caught them?" inquired Kelveros.
"Don't worry, I brought those fools back to their own dimension." replied Zero.
"As long as they're not here, it's alright," sighed a relieved Kelveros.
"And look at this- a mechanical marvel, more powerful than even our technology."
Zero produced the little cube from his armour, and instantly it became the black-helmeted wonder it was when they together defeated Fire.
"That's...Amazing. Where did you get it...?!"
"Fire dropped it. He's going to report back to Order with empty hands."
"Alright...I'll see you tomorrow, Zero. Good night."
"Good night, Kelveros."
Chapter 13: Fate
Zero shifted in his sleep. Something was troubling him... and it interfered with the network of Dimensions.
Lord Zero's not going to believe this.
What? It sounds like it came from Magellan's room... Evokers. They'll never learn. Oh well. Even if I won't believe it, I'd better check anyway. thought Zero.
Zero, using his powers of teleportation, moved himself to Magellan's chambers. He was amazed what, or who, lay in a small pile in the middle of a pentacle, beside a small crevasse. It was...
Jon.
"L-L-Lord Z-Z-Zero! I tried to summon something from another dimension... and HE appeared..!"
"It's okay, Magellan. I wanted him to be here." "Y-Yes, Lord Zero..."
"Leave, Magellan. We need to talk."
"Ahh...Where am I? Where's Sam, Tyler, or Elbern?" Jon groaned.
"Don't worry. You're safe now."
"Zero?"
"Correct."
Jon formed a helmet around his head, masking his face. He hoped no one would recognize him, for fear of being identified as an intruder.
As Jon walked out of the room with Zero, the signs on the door seemed to him like Latin, or something very similar.
"Good idea. That way, no one will realize you're not one of us. We'll have to do something about your lack of wings, though..."
Zero drew energy and released it, saying; "Obscurum, donum meus hospes per fuga."
Jon felt a strange vibration in his back and twisted round. Six lumps were growing there, which burst into feathered wings as he watched them. "I hope these are removable." "Don't worry, you'll be able to hide them if you need to."
It took a few minutes for Zero to get to the place he was taking Jon. The sign on the door read Chronicles Chamber and Jon wondered what was inside. "Go on. You need to meet my brother, and Kelveros." He reached forwards and pushed open the door.
Infinity and Kelveros were sitting at the table.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The next day, Jon woke up refreshed and rejuvenated in a golden room. Though something was missing in spirit, he tried to forget it, and it helped.
Zero strode through the black door of the room. Jon was staring at the golden wall, and seemed to be thinking.
"Jon, are you okay? You seem to be depressed," inquired Zero.
"Order...took away someone important to me. Someone who gave me my power...Someone who gave me my will."
"And...Who is this person?"
"Xenos."
Zero's mind shattered. Impossible! Celestius was...gone. How is it possible that I still exist, then? What of Infinity? Is he still here?
Time seemed to stand still for a while, then Jon broke the awkward silence.
"It's possible that if we defeat Order, Xenos will be released."
"Is it truly possible? Cel-Xenos will be released?" Zero gasped.
"It might be. I'm not completely sure."
"If that's true, we'll need you ready for combat. Come with me- I'll teach you some spells."
They walked out of the room, and flew down into the large courtyard. Zero produced a book from his armour.
"This is the S-Campester tome of Darkness. I think you might be able to use it to some extent. Find the ones you think are good for you."
After what seemed like an hour, Jon finally picked out the few spells he wanted to learn. Those spells were Forix Incompositus, Atrum Meteor, Forix Levitas, and Obscurum Tempestas Vortex.
"Are these okay? They seem interesting..." asked Jon.
"I think the Forix Incompositus and the Forix Levitas are good for you, but Atrum Meteor and Obscurum Tempestas Vortex may be too hard for a human such as yourself," said Zero. "Nevertheless, you are the Lord of Chaos, and will be treated as such. Now, which one will you try first?"
Chaper 14: Vortex
Jon was proving very well with the spells. It seemed that he was a natural at that type of magic. Especially with the Forix Incompositus, his talent as a Chaos Lord was showing. Objects flew this way and that around the courtyard, but never breaking.
Very well done, Zero. Teach him for me, and we will liberate the world of Dis Manibus.
Lord...Celestius? I thought you were...dead.
If I'm dead, will you and Infinity not be? Don't worry, I'm with Water, Wind, and Earth. Now, teach him well, and I depart from you.
"Zero! Zero!" Jon called. "Are you OK?"
Zero snapped out of the state he was in. "I'm alright. Come on, I'll teach you the Obscurum Tempestas Vortex."
"Obscurum Tempestas Vortex!"
A great black void appeared from Zero's fingers. Dark energy crackled from within, consuming the very time and space which it was based on. Several marble jars flew into the powerful black hole, until Zero stopped it and it collapsed into itself, sealing up its insides.
"That's amazing! How can something absorb the very fabric of which it's made?" Jon asked in wonder.
"It's a high-level skill. The S on the cover of the Tome of Darkness stands for Superior. They're the most powerful spells one can learn, and created by Celestius himself."
"I think I need to know now. Who is Celestius?" Jon asked.
"He's... one whom you know on Allandria. Someone who gave you your power... and someone who is my greater whole."
"You mean... Xenos...?"
"Yes. The former Lord of Chaos."
Suddenly, a black shadow flew across the sky. Several artillery-size shells flew out of the blue, casting craters in the marble-paved walkway. The shadow flew down, causing a huge impact to the earth. As it landed, Zero could make out its size, about nine stories high, and humanoid to some extent. It was mechanichal, that was for sure. Its head was covered by a huge red mask, like a Seraphian Knight's visor, with three vertical slits. Its eyes were indiscriminate, and there were two spikes on the sides of the visor. Its shoulders were dark brown and triangular, with sections of red at the front and the top. Two colossal cannons were mounted on its humongous shoulders, the left one with a circular barrel and the right one with a hexagonal barrel. Its central chestplate had the same design as the head, but it was grey and rounded. The side chestpieces had the same design as the shoulders. Its arms were tan, and the forearms had slits in their sides. The hands were tan as well, with metallic grey, segmented fingers. The pelvis consisted of tan thigh protectors with a tan central piece. Two huge beam cannons were mounted on the sides. The legs were tan, and the knee plates had the same design and colour as the head. The forelegs were tan and so were the feet.
"Holy sh--," Jon swore.
"This seems to be a problem," Zero said.
A hologram of Fire in a red jumpsuit and helmet appeared in front of them. "You won't be so lucky this time," he said. Then the hologram disappeared, and two huge shells whizzed by Zero and Jon. The huge robotic thing flew up again, this time taking the cannons mounted on its sides. Zero chased it into the sky.
"Jormungandhr! Atrum Meteor!"
The huge black meteor slammed into the mechanical being, almost incinerating it. But as the black flame faded, not a scratch was left on the huge robot.
"How could this be?! Nothing can survive the Atrum Meteor!"
The huge machine shot yet another huge laser at Zero, and this time it hit.
"ARRRGH!" Zero screamed as he fell from the sky.
Jon didn't know what to do. All of his mind was lost immediately, and the only thing that broke the horrible silence was a piercing scream.
"OBSCURUM TEMPESTAS VORTEX!"
The huge black void appeared again, this time ten times as big and at Jon's fingers this time. The purple lightning cracked and fizzled, and the only thing that stopped the sky itself from going in was gravity. The huge mech was sucked clean into the void, making strange sounds from its core. All went black in Jon's eyes, and he collapsed on the ground.
Bandwidth exceeded....again. Cont. on Pg. 5.
