UltimateAQ IRC Chat Channel

IRC is Internet Relay Chat, in other words it is a rather simple way to talk to many people quickly. We would like for out IRC channel, located on irc.caelestia.net in the channel #ultimateaq to become more active.

AQSTATS JAVA
1) Go to www.aqstats.com/chat.php Click on chat now.

2) Enter the nickname you want to use while in IRC into the white box. Click chat.

3) That takes you into the channel #infinisoft. To get into our channel type /join #ultimateaq

mIRC
1) To download it: Go to www.mirc.com/get.html and search for your region of the world, or whatever is closest to you. I believe some are in different languages, so if you live in Denmark, and the nearest dl place is Italy, dl from USA, or some language you understand.

2) Accept any security warnings (its safe, I GUARANTEE) and save to disk. When it has downloaded it, install it like any other application.

3) Once installed, run it. The first screen you should see informs you that you need to register within 30 days (paying=registering) DON'T WORRY! Its not actually true. NO matter what version, you can run it for years. After the 30 days you just press continue, and it works fine.

4) Next you come to a screen called mIRC Options. Fill out the immediate information it needs. Press OK.

5) Now you should have a realtively blank screen. Go to the strip at the bottom of the window where you can write in.

6) Type in these exact words
/server irc.caelestia.net
Then press enter

6.1) If it does not connect after 3 or so tries, try these different servers:
aurora.caelestia.net
apollo.caelestia.net
polekat.caelestia.net

7) It will take a few moments to connect, then a screen will pop up. Where it says "Enter a channel name..." Type in these exact words. WITH the # symbol.

And press join

Done

ICECHAT
1) To download it: www.icechat.net/site/index.php?name=Downloads Choose one of the full clients, I recommend version 7.

2) Accept any security warnings (its safe, I GUARANTEE) and save to disk. When it has downloaded it, install it like any other application.

3) Once installed, run it. From here ignore everything and just keep clicking next.

4) Once at the main screen where you can see the favorite server list on the left, delete all servers there. Click add.

5) Type in these exact words
irc.caelestia.net

5.1) If it does not connect after 3 or so tries, try these different servers:
aurora.caelestia.net
apollo.caelestia.net
polekat.caelestia.net

6) When it says channels, type #ultimateaq in the box. Type the nickname you would like to use in the next screen, skip autoperform.

7) At basic server settings, put whatever you would like from "Nickname" and below. Click save, then doubleclick the server name in the favorite server list. You can minimize the list by clicking the circle with two arrows in it.

The AQstats one is the quickest if you can only get on a computer once in a while or it is a one off . It is the only one where you don't have to download anything .

Though you type #ultimateaq at the bottom bar press enter it comes up on the screen where you double click it to where it will take you to UAQ's channel. And there you can just talk away.

This has been bothering some people, and some have had trouble with it so this is an easier way just to help.


Go to AQstats

click CHAT NOW

Java window pops up.

Click YES if anything comes up

Type any name that you want to be called recognised under.

When in you will see a white long box,click into it and copy and paste into it.

#ultimateaq

Press return/enter it will appear above .

Click #ultimateaq that just appeared above until it takes you to the channel.

You are now with us... To talk type in the box at the bottom like you did before and press enter. Very simple.

A couple IRC programs that are out there BESIDES mIRC are X-Chat and Trillian. If you don't wanna use mIRC or the Java/IceChat thingy, you cna go check those out. Trillian is also one of those all-in-one messenger things, too. So you can have AIM, MSN, Yahoo, and most of the other major IM programs in one.

Indeed. There are hundreds of IRC clients the three listed are ones I'm familiar with, though you can find a huge list of them here www.valinor.sorcery.net/clients/

Actually, many IRC client are at least 10 times more customizable than MSN. Some clients (like mIRC, and IceChat) you can customize pretty much everything if you are willing to attempt to learn how. IRC is also actually a lot faster than all IM clients.

Mhm. It was made when the Internet was only dial-up, and even now the dial-up chatting speed is near-instant. And mIRC IS really customizable. With the right coding skills and all that jazz, you might even be able to make it look like MSN. As for me, I just find cool components online that are pre-made to use with mIRC.

I went to AQstats and I went to irc.caelestia.net, and on neither of them did I see UAQ's IRC (Yes, I did search in caelestia)
